It’s that time of the month again, ladies and gentlemen. Time for our second round of Video Vomit. I’m about to share all the music videos I failed to write about during the past month. I started doing this at the end of February because I felt a ton of anxiety over the fact that I couldn’t come up with clever comments and funny jokes about other people’s work in real time (aka at the time the work was published on the Internet). I know 10 music videos is kind of a lot, but I’m sure you’ll find a way to deal with it. Information overload is not a new thing.

Lana Del Rey “Chelsea Hotel No. 2”
I feel absolutely terrible for not giving this video the attention it deserves because I absolutely adore Lana. This song and music video totally struck me by surprise, though. Just like that wonderful day in the life when “Burning Desire” surfaced as a full-blown production slash commercial for Jaguar. In this totally new and awesome single Lana covers the totally unknown song “Chelsea Hotel No. 2” by Leonard Cohen. I know, I know. You’re a music buff and history connoisseur and you cannot believe I don’t know the original version of this song. I’m a lazy millennial though, so I don’t actually care. Lana looks beautiful and sad and all she needs is your love. The rest doesn’t matter.

Passion Pit “Cry Like a Ghost”
There is an Extended Version of this video here and a Behind the Scenes special here. Apparently this was all done in collaboration with a new service called Music Unlimited, which is like another version of Spotify. Do as you wish with that information. It’s not like I get paid for any of the endorsements I make.
This song comes from the album Gossamer. It says directed by DANIELS.
This one has a flare of both Koreas. It features archival footage that is used in every single documentary about North Korea on Netflix, and everywhere else documentaries about North Korea are found. Apparently some Koreans are a little upset with the use of this footage and the appropriation of their culture for this music video. Are you Korean? You should tell me how you feel about this. I’m like really curious.

‘A Tooth For An Eye’ deconstructs images of maleness, power and leadership. Who are the people we trust as our leaders and why? What do we have to learn from those we consider inferior? In a sport setting where one would traditionally consider a group of men as powerful and in charge, an unexpected leader emerges. A child enters and allows the men to let go of their hierarchies, machismo and fear of intimacy, as they follow her into a dance. Their lack of expertise and vulnerability shines through as they perform the choreography. Amateurs and skilled dancers alike express joy and a sense of freedom; There is no prestige in their performance. The child is powerful, tough and sweet all at once, roaring “I’m telling you stories, trust me”. There is no shame in her girliness, rather she possesses knowledge that the men lost a long time ago.

Toro y Moi “Never Matter”
Chaz literally went to the pulga (flea market) to shoot his newest music video. I don’t even have the swag to write about how cool this is. Toro y Moi deserves all the hype points and free promo ever because his music is amaze, and this new video is also amaze, and he wins.
“Never Matter” is the third single off Toro Y Moi’s third full-length, “Anything In Return.” Out now on Carpark Records.

Wild Belle “Happy Home”
“Happy Home” is the latest single from Wild Belle’s debut album, Isles. They took the footage from the 1961 French film Last Year at Marienbad (L’Année dernière à Marienbad). We found out about Wild Belle at SXSW 2013. The duo didn’t make it to our “Top Acts,” but we sure as hell think their work is awesome and share-worthy.
Wavves “Afraid of Heights”
Pitchforktv made this one. They win because this video is funny and they get a ton of Wavves exclusives. Their new album, Afraid of Heights, is finally available for purchase.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Sacrilege”
“Sacrilege” is the first official single from the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s forthcoming album, Mosquito. The music video is so scandalous and amazing. Hooray for the whore of Babylon!
